"Sometimes I explain the same topic in several different ways and suddenly there is a 'click' and the students understand. They start to make connections to other topics and suddenly the stuff makes sense to them. It is rewarding for me”, says Associate Professor Richard Röttger.
Graduates will be versed in the use of computers and special software in the biological and biomedical fields and within the modelling of complex dynamic systems that will provide career opportunities in consultancies, patent agencies and also the banking sector, like:
- Bioinformatics and biological data science
- Clinical data science and disease
- Medical technology
- Drug discovery and formulation
- Programming and Data Analysis
- Machine learning/artificial intelligence in biological data science
- Finance and banking data analysis
- Academic research or health science research

Introduction to MSc in Computational Biomedicine
Computational Biomedicine contributes to our understanding of complex biological processes in health and disease. The goal is to reveal novel features of complex biological and biomedical datasets, e.g. experimental data obtained by genomics, proteomics or imaging analysis of human cells or tissues.
Such features include novel disease genes, mutations, protein-protein interactions, biomarkers for the early detection and diagnosis of disease or monitoring of propagation of disease and effects of treatment at the population level.
The two-year interdisciplinary and international Master's degree programme is designed to enable students to apply computational and statistical methods in practical projects, for biological, biomedical and clinical data mining and modelling of biological structures and networks.
The programme is tailored to accommodate students with several different academic backgrounds, such as Biology/Biochemistry or Computer Science/Mathematics/Physics, and we offer conversion classes in the first semester of the programme.

Students in Denmark spend much time together, as social togetherness and a sense of community are important elements of Danish culture. International students find themselves quickly integrated and appreciate the easiness to make new connections and get along with fellow students.
Our students here spend time after classes together: working together, forming study groups and solving assignments together. There is a high motivation to help each other. The classes have been described as having a respectful atmosphere in which students feel comfortable to speak up and contribute.
International students play a crucial role in enriching the university experience for every student, by bringing different views, cultures and perspectives. That is why we do our utmost to support our international students before and after their arrival.
