Do you want to explore the technology behind sustainable energy solutions, as well as how to regulate energy supply that is based on hydro power? Become an expert in hydro power and power supply!
Sustainable energy use in the future requires greater focus on electrical systems as energy carriers. Our master programme is anchored in hydro power, which is the most effective form of renewable energy. Hydro power is also easy to regulate, which means that the social value of hydro power is higher than that of many other power sources.
Considerable challenges have arisen in the further development of the power grid in Norway and elsewhere through the introduction of unregulated energy production, such as small-scale production of hydro, wind and solar power.
Would you like to continue your studies within electrical engineering? With a master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering, you are also qualified for teaching as well as PhD-studies in Norway and abroad.

USN offers an informal and student friendly environment. Our campuses are small with an open-door policy where our staff dedicates time and attention to each student. USN offers a safe living and study environment as well as a multicultural society where English is widely spoken. Our programmes are focused on practical study methods with a problem-based approach that should help students to prepare for real-life situations.
This programme is taught in Porsgrunn, in one of South-Eastern Norway’s largest city regions, where you can live an idyllic student life near the archipelago. Read more about campus Porsgrunn.
