Why study psychology at Jacobs University Bremen?
The last century has seen the appearance of numerous sub-disciplines of psychology, many of which have become new fields of specialization. The largest professional psychological association worldwide lists over 50 different divisions, from behavioral neuroscience to international psychology. The BA Psychology program at Jacobs University provides a solid foundation in core areas of psychology, at the same time as allowing specialization in specific areas such as conflict resolution or economic psychology later in the course. It also addresses the potential fragmentation of the field by emphasizing the situation of specialized knowledge within the context of the field as a whole.

The BA in Psychology at Jacobs University Bremen uses a core framework and a multi-level approach, examining individual mental processes such as perception and memory alongside their social and cultural contexts. Biological constraints are also explored, and students are encouraged to develop an understanding of neuroscience. The multilevel framework looks at these different levels of psychological understanding separately, but also investigates their relation to one another and to other disciplines in the natural and social sciences (e.g. biology, biochemistry, sociology and political science). Jacob University’s Psychology BA additionally offers a special focus on diversity, exploring the possibilities of cooperation and conflict it can bring on individual and social levels.
